Product development for a technology start-up that delivers measurable business value
UX/UI Design, Development, Product
Project Scope
I joined WAGAS and was immediately given the task of finishing their main website.
The site had multiple sections which I prepared mockups for in Adobe XD and developed on WordPress.
I then moved onto developing the companys custom CRM on Domino Volt from scratch.
Design Contributions
I was entirely responsible for the development of the website other than the word content. I worked as the lead software developer on the CRM platform. I was helped by some members of the team and directed instructions for them.
Process
Research
Understanding users should be one of the first goals of any product team, which is why user research methods are designed to be used early on in the product development cycle.
I speak with users to figure out what problems they have.
This involves both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Prototype
I create solutions to the problems uncovered by research.
I design wireframes, prototypes and pixel perfect UI.
Validate
I check how effective the designs are.
It involves continuous testing.
Validating the designs is a great way to solve problems before they reach a product development team.
WAGAS Ventures Platform
In short, this application helped investors and start-up owners under the WAGAS soft landing program keep track of R&D grants, sales, task management and upcoming events.
Its primary function was to obtain company data as a means to obtain R&D grants entitled to a specific profile of start-up.
Design Rationale
The projects were primarily for start-up investors who had some background in technology.
There were some clients who used the products who were older so the UI took that into account with plenty use of icons and larger text instructions to help them use the website and CRM.
Results
A fully functional CRM dashboard that is accessible from all browsers and mobile friendly.
Reflection
A challenging project that required a lot of thought regarding structural issues and accessibility. An important take away for me was to truly understand the purpose and end-result of the navigation before designing and how this can affect different areas of the application.
