User Research

Working with the companies in-house CMS was challenging as they had a very specific and unique file structure incorporated into Joomla.

Often changes would be required to be made twice on Joomla and then pushed through to Github which could at times seem long winded. Once I got used to the unique set-up things then became more seamless.

Insights & Analysis

Research

Discovering user goals for the project was the initial priority and I was able to reach out to some of their existing clients to discuss pain points and potential improvements.

Design

I created solutions to the problems based on user research. I designed wireframes and discussed with the CEO and Marketing lead.

Develop

Once my designs were approved I worked on developing the changes in HTML, CSS & Javascript.

Final solution & designs

Challenges

Page loading speed was an issue on this website. The client had a lot of hi-res photos and plugins that were causing issues.

Solution

Image optimisation using Photoshop and removing/compressing useless CSS & Javascript helped to increase the site load time on desktop and mobile.

High speed Performance

Adding a CDN helped optimise speed as the website had traffic coming from North America and Europe.

Design Rationale

I was challenged to create new graphics and come up with a new user flow that would allow users to have easier access to the softwares features without becoming confused and dropping off the page.

Reflections

Results

I worked on a new UI that allowed users a more practical transition between feature pages without becoming overwhelmed.

Reflections

Working with a companies specialised in-house software was challenging but the learning curve was worthwhile and I was happy with my contribution.
