Mr Apartment Guy

Website designed to showcase international properties
UX/UI Design, Website Design

Project Scope

I was asked to take over the design of this WordPress site for an international property business.

They needed a full re-design and wanted a particular look and feel so I made multiple drafts until we settled on the final version.

I built the custom graphics in Illustrator and rendered images in Photoshop.

Design Contributions

I was entirely responsible for the development of the website other than the word content. I worked as the lead software developer on the CRM platform. I was helped by some members of the team and directed instructions for them.

Wireframes

As part of the re-design I created wireframes and mockups on Adobe XD before rebuilding the website on WordPress.

Design Challenges

Challenges

Page loading speed was an issue on this website. The client had a lot of hi-res photos and plugins that were causing issues.

Solution

Image optimisation using Photoshop and removing/compressing useless CSS & Javascript helped to increase the site load time on desktop and mobile.

High speed Performance

Adding a CDN helped optimise speed as the website had traffic coming from North America and Europe.

Design Rationale

The site required the rentals location and utilities to be shown off, the key feature was to make it easy for customers to find the location and contact the company to book a tour.

I made sure there were several call to action sections positioned around the website and that all property details were easy to understand through the use of clear icons.

The results

Website with search function to a database of properties to buy, sell or rent. Sleek user interface that shows off the apartments highlights and floor plan.

Reflection

Improvements could be made by increasing search filters options – sign-up for recommended rental alerts to email is a feature that could be implemented.
